Well, my little man is now 10 months and one day old! The past month has been full of milestones! He is now a full-fledged crawler and pulls up on everything. I guess because he's older he thinks he gets to stay up later as well. The past week he's been staying up til nine or so and still getting up around 630 or 7. I've read that this is normal, but at the same time his daddy doesn't require a lot of sleep so it might be the way he's going to be. He is going through a bit of Separation Anxiety, but for the most part he is content to do his own thing most of the time. I think that now that he's more mobile the world is opened to up so he's more interested in exploring things. He makes me think of a cat or puppy the way he wants to get into everything. He loves the trash and playing with the door stoppers! He actually has two bumps on his head right now and a carpet burn on his nose! Boys will be boys though so I guess this is just the beginning! Actually one of the bumps is mommy's fault: yesterday morning we were napping in my bed, and I needed to use the restroom. I thought "he'll be fine for a minute or two". I heard a thump and then a cry. Poor thing! I felt terrible! It's the first time it's happened. Guess I'll have to start putting him in the floor! The other bump came from him exploring in the bathroom. He thinks he's bigger than he is, and I guess he slipped trying to pull up. He actually does pretty well though. He only recently started pulling up so much and has figured out how to get down. Hopefully this means I won't be woke up by a screaming, stuck baby in the middle of the night!
Still no teeth but everything else is coming along great. He's still sleeping through. He started "dancing" this past week. If he hears music he rocks back and forth to it bobbing his head. It is one of the cutest things ever. He's on 3rd stage foods and eating more table food. He gets breakfast at school and if we go out he gets a kids' item- today it was a hot dog and applesauce. I'd been working on him using a sippy cup, and it wasn't going so well--he would suck but not raise it or raise it but not suck. I tried taking out the suctiony thing, and it made a mess so I bought him some with a built in straw. They're awesome! He does great with them and will even stop eating in order to take a drink from it. I'm hoping that I'll be able to fully transition him to it around a year old. I do not want him to be three going around with a bottle!
Potty training??!! I read that if a baby wakes up with a dry diaper it means he's ready to start potty training. Last week this started happening. His diapers were a lot less wet than usual, and he would wet the new one not long after waking/being changed. I'm not rushing it, but if he continue to give signs that he's ready then we'll start potty training in the next few months.
People continue to comment on what a great baby he is. All I can say is he's got his daddy's personality! He's been pretty laidback for most of his life- just feed him and let him rest and he's happy as can be! Today was his first day in the nursery at church since he was very young, and the ladies both commented on how good he was. I'd been keeping him with me, but now that he's older and crawling I figure he'd rather be able to get down and play with the other babies so I decided to put him in there. I love seeing him around other babies. He's so curious. He grabs on them, takes their toys, pulls their hair, touches their faces, lets them pull on him and play with him, but he hardly ever cries over anything. He's just laaaaidback.
Planning is starting on the first birthday party! I can't believe we're celebrating 10 months and before we know it, it will be 11 months and then his birthday! I've got some great ideas for his birthday presents- more things that will mean something oneday--things to commemorate the occasion than superficial things. I figure he has toys, clothes and all the other things he needs right now so there's no sense in buying him a lot of things. Not to mention he's just as content with a spatula (his newest toy) banging on things as with his actual toys!
Well, that's it for now. We start VBS tomorrow so it's going to be a long week!
